The National Universities Commission, NUC has released via its official website the list of 58 fake universities currently operating in Nigeria along with 8 universities, which are currently undergoing investigation The investigation is ongoing as findings show the institutions are awarding illegal degree programs in the country.

These fake universities are all across the 36 states of the federation. Candidates seeking admission into higher institutions are thereby encouraged to do proper investigations by visiting the official page of the NUC to know which university is accredited and approved the ones that are still undergoing investigations and the fake ones as well.

Elsewhere, the Joint Professionals Training and Support International Incorporated (JPTS Int’l) warned the management of the African University of Benin, Cotonou – Republic of Benin, against admitting any undergraduate student of Nigerian Universities seeking admission into their institution without any transcript and formal correspondence from an accredited Nigerian University by NUC. JPTS suspects that some of the undergraduate students of these fake universities are finding their way into the Benin republic to study at the African University of Benin.
